While tear bottles have endured for nearly 3,000 years, they reappeared in the 19th century Victorian era in the form of beautiful small bottles, highly decorated with silver and pewter. Bereavement would end when the tears had evaporated but the bottle remained as a token of eternal devotion. Today tear bottles can be used for real tears but are most often given as symbolic gifts to express shared feelings of love, sympathy and remembrance. Approximately 2" high.
